What to tell my boy about unschooling

I don't have kids but still think of that situation. "If I had kids, what would they and I do at the school age"?--that stuff. I would just give kids information and the opportunity to decide. Havi...

It's been a while since the last comment! Just to be sure...is TLC still meeting up? If they are, where can I find parents? I know most kids are at the park, while most teens meet at the library.

Even Hot Topic? Wow, I never knew. There's always the other side, mom's wanting to be "hip", criticizing their "geeky" or "nerdy" kid. I don't like that either. While I'm fine with merely disagreeing parents, I don't like coercion in favor of the...

The last blog was crazy. Thank you Slinky and Sandra Dodd for adding what needed to be said. Unfortunately, I get rant-like when I feel someone's dignity is being trampled upon. I hope you understand. Anyway... Is anyone here willing to host so...

Thanks for the comment. I'm one who agrees with understanding others' wishes, but I have a hard time respecting wishes when one party (young people, in this case) may not be considered. Hence the rant. "But as to unschooling families, part of th...

-=-I wonder why parents impose those stupidities. It's their kids' bodies, not theirs. As long as kids don't harm anyone, why should it matter? -=- If you call it "stupid" without understanding their reasons, it will make it difficult for people ...

Henna sounds good. I didn't hear about that option until last week. Good thing, because the permanent, hazardous dyes are scary.
October 23
The thing I worry about with dye is the chemicals. There are a lot of chemical free or chemical light options these days though. Lucky for me my girls have never been all that interested in dyeing their hair so I have not had to worry about the is...

Profile Information

what does "radical unschooling" mean to you?
Something simple: the freedom to be in charge of your learning. You use both common and uncommon ways to learn, but unlike other people, a school, teacher, or curriculum never takes over you.
how long have you been unschooling or homeschooling?
Officially (in my eyes) since 17 February 2009, the day I stopped going to school; loosely, since the days I did tons of research on unschooling.
names and ages of children
None; I'm both the unschooling "child" and "parent". My parents don't believe in what I'm doing, so I take the role.
a little about me
This is a hard question. Let's crack our knuckles and get to it!

People act different depending on situations. The same applies to me. In the end, I'm just an 18-year old willing to try new things. Art, books, and thinking are turn-ons. Stubbornness + coercion = no-no's.

Meet-Ups

Anyway...

Is anyone here willing to host someone? I'm a member of such groups but haven't seen enough posts. So asking the whole community sounds like a good idea. I don't know when I'll visit other places, but I'm still interested in being informed.

Dyed Hair and Mutual Consent

From B-to-the-logger

I started this on Saturday, 17 October and finished too-day.

My mom went to Orlando, Florida's Walt Disney World Resort with every inhabitant in my house. It's no surprise I was in my grandparents' (mom's side) house. It started with me in the bedroom, lying down and thinking about kids dying their hair. I visit these blogs and websites and see unschooled kids free to express themselves in funky ways: shaved… Continue

Tough

From my recent Blogger post

My online Monday time was in the evening, giving me horrible eye pain. I cannot go on with little light, though I can't or don't want to go earlier. Just had to mention that.

This is being typed on the public library computer, which sucks because it's always popping up windows about encrypted information. Ugh! Guess it's best to use my grandparents' computer for hours (I really, really like the Internet and go out of hand with usage and time).

This week was inter… Continue

Another blog!

It's quite hard to maintain two blogs. If you guys don't mind, I will copy posts from my Blogger. I like writing about unschooling so you won't miss nothing.
