Profile Information

what does "radical unschooling" mean to you?
The freedom to think for yourself, decide what is important to you, and follow your passions. I am not sure if this stuff is more wonderful for myself or for my kids!
how long have you been unschooling or homeschooling?
I have always homeschooled, except for 2 months of stupid desperation when my second child was a baby. Unschooling is what I have always done, although I did not realize there was a name for following the child (except for Montessori - which is way too structured to work at our house). Radical unschooling still feels new, although I can see that I am no longer a newbie. I am looking forward to the rest of the journey into unschooling in a radical way.

a little about me
I attended my very first Live and Learn conference last year and wow was that great! We went to the 2nd annual Winter Waterpark Gathering in Ohio in Feb and now have aspirations of a gathering of some sorts near the DC/Baltimore area.

It's FAHA, Fredericksburg Area Homeschoolers' Association. Here's a quote from our main page "FAHA (Fredericksburg Area Homeschoolers Association) is more than a homeschool support group, we are an intentional community. We are a secular, close-knit, like-minded group of homeschoolers living around Fredericksburg, Virginia who meet at least once a week--regularly on Wednesdays--for projects, activities, field trips, and park days. We share the values of attachment parenting, respectful parenting, and natural living. We are eclectic homeschoolers (with strong leanings toward unschooling), with children ranging from baby to 12 years old."

I didn't see your comment when you left it WAY back in September, but now I do have a cool unschooling group that I'm a part of here in Fred. so I can give a much happier response now!

The unschooling weekend sounds like so much fun! Our spring is filling up fast, though, and we have other plans that weekend. I hope you have a good turnout and a lot of fun!
