Profile Information

what does "radical unschooling" mean to you?
Radical unschooling for our family is both a process, and a way of life. It is not just an educational choice, it is a choice to build true relationship, love, and learning within our family through the strong bonds formed by mutual respect and kindness; and an ongoing learning process for us all as we mosey along this sometimes bumpy path, having as much fun as we can along the way!
how long have you been unschooling or homeschooling?
We have been unschoolers since before we knew there was such a thing- most of the 8+ years since my first daughter was born.
first names of children
Trinity, 8
Elija, 2
a little about me
My loves in life are my family, unschooling, nature, photography, travel, and creating things. I love to learn about almost everything. I love to read (maybe someday i'll find time for 'grown up' books again!). I'd like to travel the world, and someday settle down on a self sufficient little farm with a rope swing hanging from a big oak tree.

Hi again,
sorry I haven't been online in about a week.
Baby is sleeping, kids are playing, we had a late, late night last night... got to bed around 2 am...so now I have a few minutes to write! I should be resting too, my eyes are tired!

Lots going on in my house of late. Several weeks ago, my partner came home totally upset by how low his hours are of late and wants to quit his job. The owners don't seem to care how much business they have and don't actively search out new business... the hours vasilate from week to week and he is tired of getting just enough to get by... So he says to me, while we are discussing the pros and cons of his location and what he would rather do, I feel like I've been cursed!

Since I've tried everything I could think of and so has he to try and figure this thing out...I contacted another member from another group that I belong to. She's a shaman and I know a little about what she can do, so I figured it was worth a try!

Long story short, he got worked on last night. Afterward,he was told to do a cleansing bath of sea salt, and some other herbs and I swear he got out of the bath and actually looked different! She did some cord cutting and lifted a curse from a former girlfriend who was into witchcraft and black magic... which he had totally forgotten about...she was a complete psycho and even stalked him after he broke up with her. She tried to buy him with expensive gifts as well, but he wasn't impressed with any of this...he saw her for what she really was, an energy sucker! Energy is energy, and people can do good things with it, or bad! And since we are all connected energetically, when someone thinks ill of you, you feel it! There is so much to all of this...

All of this psychic stuff is a puzzle and can be hard to figure out, but it has it's moments of good stuff as well as bad. But if you don't have someone to help you thru it, it can be frustrating and confusing. I'm so glad I can talk to my partner about this as well as my kids since they are all intuitive skills and use them daily! They understand this stuff and I'm encouraging them to keep those gifts, cause they can help you with charlatans and imposters!

I guess my suggestion for you would be to just keep researching and go for books and people that you are attracted to. We seem to learn what we need to know when we need to know it and are ready for it! The saying goes: When the student is ready, the teacher will appear!
Every time I go to the library or bookstore, I go and browse and usually find something that helps me with whatever concern or problem I am facing.

Right now I'm reading about water crystals and how they are affected by people's thoughts by Dr. Emoto. Very good read! And at the same time, I'm reading Echart Thole's book that Oprah had on her show last year on the book club. Alot of the stuff in it is topics my partner and I have been discussing and agreeing on for years now, but some of it is new for me, put in a new way that I can understand it. I'm just doing more of being present, in the moment, just like our baby girl does every day! Just be and be happy!
I think she is an angel and makes me appreciate my life and my other older girls that much more! I was so caught up in crap when my first daughter was born and feel bad that she had to go thru all that healing with me...but I am a much better person now because of it and so is she!
got to go, baby is awake, will write more later!!

wow, sounds like we have a lot in common. My first daughter was way independent and was and still is my biggest challenge in this life. I tried the homeschooling textbook stuff with her and it was hell. Now we just let her learn her way and it's amazing how much she knows. Everytime Imention getting some books out, she freaks and runs away....so I don't know if this one will ever do formal school...but we'll see. Most of the learning I've really kept with me has been since having kids and researching it and learning it first hand. I went to public school, then to college and hated the way I had to learn stuff. Because of the cram this in your head, then take a test, then forget it to learn something else the same way...I have to reaquaint myself with stuff in order to remember it... I hated school but learned to play their game.
Both my oldest kids are great with technology and can do all kinds of stuff on the computer. My second daughter is slower to get things and asks a million questions trying to understand this mixed up world. And my last little angel is unbelievably smart and gets things immediately, despite her 1 1/2 years on this planet. She's even faster than my first daughter was and I was amazed at her abilities! All my kids are highly intuitive and we do a lot of hearing each others thoughts. Actually that is how I communicated with my second daughter because she didn't talk much until she was about 4. Everyone, meaning our families, were worried she was autistic, so we had to get her tested to put their issues at ease. We knew she was fine, and she would talk eventually. I searched online about indigo kids, cause someone had pointed out that my oldest seemed like she was one. I found Doreen Virtue's site about angels and the books she has written. She then started getting people asking her about another group of kids and she named them Crystal kids. My second daughter fit that description to a 'T'. Now she talks our ears off. lol!!! Now my youngest isn't talking yet either and hates it when you ask her to repeat a word. She just looks at me like 'yeah, I know how to do it, I just don't feel like being put on the spot to perform like a dog' Because she doesn't talk yet, I have to do the same thing again with her and hear her thoughts.
Because of our abilities, we have to block and protect ourselves when out in public...being pyschic and feeling and hearing others can be overwhelming at times. My partner is also gifted in this and many other things. He's what you would call a shaman. He's a energy healer, which is great because he can fix almost any scrap or fall the kids have and takes the pain away. I'm also big into herbs and thats how we fix our health concerns. We are totally out of the traditional way of medicine and drugs...my mom was a nurse so I know all about drugs and what they do. I was a product of it until I left home and wanted to find something that wouldn't give me such side effects. That's when I started detoxing and got al those antibotics out of my body and any drugs I had taken as a child. We get the occassional cold, but my kids have never known an ear ache! Knowing how nature works and working with it has been the key for us. My partner even broke his wrist cycling and we fixed it in 4 weeks with herbs and alternate modealities of healing. He was back doing massage in a month...that is unheard of especially researching all the things they would have done to 'fix' his wrist. He would have been out of work for 6 months recovering from it with surgery and pins...it was pretty frankensteinish!!!
So all of this and other research has lead me into the unseen world, which we see in our family. So we've had to deal with weird energies, nasty things, faery realms, angels, ghosts....and I'm learning about them more every day.
We even captured angels or sprites on film we think at our house in Florida and in our vacation in Colorado. Two seperate situations and time periods... Unfortunately, the negatives got lost at the printers....
Anyways, I feel like I'm rambling...but yes, it sounds like we are on similar paths! It's great to know there are others out there like us! Our families don't understand us and give us grief about a lot of the things we do, but we are healthy and very happy with our life. It is what my partner and I have always dreamed of having.
Well, I better go before my hands cramp....plus my partner just came back from his ride, he cycles, and I'd love to spend some quiet time with him.
talk again soon!

Your girls are beautiful.
I also have girls, 3 of them. 12, 8 1/2 and 1 1/2. The age difference is such a contrast and brings me back to when I was a new mom with my now 12 year old. Oh how things have changed. I see how I look at things differently now that I am going thru the same stuff with my 1 1/2 yr. old. Your philosophy is a lot like ours...I love your blogspot. Need to do that myself but just haven't made the time. I love to journal and would love to figure out how to put all my photos on this computer thing. I'm not too good on this thing, but getting better as my girls teach me how it works....they are so fast on it!
Where are you located? East coast, west coast? We're in SC and it is suppose to be 70 today! I'm so glad it is starting to warm up here! Last week it got down in the 30's and froze water in our back yard. The girls loved it, but I'm looking forward to warmer weather. We have a wonderful yard with a koi pond and it is wonderful to sit out in it and feed the fish!
Welcome to the group. It's great to know what we are doing, others are doing as well. Our neighborhood is full of public school kids. But we occassionally meet the homeschooled family and hang out. My kids would love more of the unschoolers to hang with, but we seem to have more younger kids in our area, 6 and younger, so they don't have older kids to connect with in person.
