"Hi Bliss, I am new here and so we don't know each other, but I felt you should get a reply (if you haven't already). I do know mental health, I was a social worker/therapist for many years in a previous life, before I became the full time…"

Profile Information

what does "radical unschooling" mean to you?
I never really thought I was radical, I am just unschooling because schooling never really worked for me as a child and I couldn't stand the thought of copying a failed system at home. My children are not experiments to be repeated, they are here and now and amazing and the more faith that I have in them the more astounding they seem to become.
how long have you been unschooling or homeschooling?
My oldest child is 13 years and some number of months, so that is how long I have been homeschooling/unschooling. My children have never been in a school setting.
first names of children

a little about me
I grew up in a hyper family as a hyper child. Education was important and valued, but school drove me insane and I nearly lost my own identity on the way through the diploma mill. I was "bright" and scored well on their silly tests, but always thought that the machine was somehow bankrupt. Grades weren't important to me, but they weren't hard to come by either. I was frustrated and frustrating. I think I am still recovering.

My stats: I am 42, Pagan (in a kitchen witchy kind of way), vegetarian, attachment parenting, former social worker (hated school, but did it for 17 years), householder (not a SAHM or housewife), with an amazing husband and kids. We are kept by 10 cats and a dog in a house in Northeast Maryland.
