Profile Information

what does "radical unschooling" mean to you?
Radical Unschooling is not a term I use to describe myself, as I find it redundant - I'm pretty Radical about Everything I do ;) I strive to live a principle-driven life with as little arbitrary messiness as possible. The focus of my parenting is Joy and Connection.
how long have you been unschooling or homeschooling?
I've never been sucked into the school system with my kids!
names and ages of children
My parenting journey began on August 23, 1996 with the birth of Hannah and was expanded on August 22, 1998 by the arrival of Hayden. Though my parenting of Hannah ended on February 24, 2006, the adventures continue with Hayden as an Only ♥
a little about me
Lessee, in current terms, I've begun my 41st year whilst being mama to Hayden, fabulous girlfriend to Scotty, calm assertive (mostly) pack leader to Charlie, baking goddess at Sunnyside Up, prolific tomato watcher, photo blogger, voracious reader (cum listener), meditative knitter, friend to many, stranger to few, lover of children & rain, right here in Paradise, known as Corvallis, OR.
A few things I've been include wife to Mitch, mama to Hannah, South Dakota resident (I'm practically infamous there!), Interpreter for the Deaf, a SoCal Valley Girl, 25 and childless, miserable in the cold, Catholic, and drunk.
Who knows what I shall become!!

Darling girl, We're just back from NZ. We thought about you while there. We tramped (that's what they call hiking) all over the north Island.

Sending love.

Hey Diana,

I was just realizing that it's been almost two months since we've seen each other! Hope you are doing well - we are here when you need us - don't want to disturb your cocoon!

Love and peace to you...

Sorry, I missed your "Skype" comment to me earlier--Things hear have been crazy with the wedding and all that--but now that we're back from the honeymoon I'm hoping for things to calm down a bit! :D I will ask Otto about it and let you know!

My first advice is "Breathe." If you are new to unschooling, I would suggest you read some at Joyce Fetterol's site (question and answer format): http://joyfullyrejoycing.com/ and at Sandra Dodd's site (many writers, including Sandra): http://www...

You know you're desperate for adult interaction when you post an ad on craigslist that you want to start an unschooling group. Considering this is also the way I found my best friend a year and a half ago, I have high hopes. Please cross your fin...

Jon Gold convinced me to move here (above my similar concerns) by showing me that, indeed, the sun shines *every day* - it's up to us to catch it ;) I know folks in South Dakota (once called The Sunshine State, as they have more hours of sunshine ...

I'm gonna reply before reading responses - forgive me! The term "support" kinda scares me, I gotta admit. Mostly because I envision a setting with lots of hand/head patting and "Oh that's okay, you did the best you could" - which doesn't lead (qui...
