Profile Information

what does "radical unschooling" mean to you?
turning the concept of traditional education on it's bottom!

I teach educational psychology to preservice teachers, so it scares me that what I tell them will help promote learning is not what happens in classrooms! I also just don't 'get' the idea of passing off my kids for so much of our lives! I like them, and not only want them around, but want to share the world with them, teaching them authentic, useful and interesting things.
how long have you been unschooling or homeschooling?
just starting to call it that (5 1/2 yr old) but we have been 'unschooling' since birth I'd say :)

a little about me
I teach part time at the community college, and we are building our own home -OURSELVES :P
40 acres, 9 hens, a black lab and lots of food growing around! oh, bees and a few bat houses too!
....and my husband is a genius. :) he builds everything himself, fixes everything, knows how to do everything. (except put kids laundry away- hmm) and if we don't know how, we find out!
