So I am working on a cookbook right now! I have been writing recipes and articles like crazy for almost a week, I have not been so motivated since before I had children! However it is taking a toll on me because now I find that the children are needing more attention I can't figure out how to organize my time with them properly! I consider myself pretty patient! I take the time to acknowledge my children when they are hurt or just need attention. They pretty much get away with way more than I…

Yesterday we got a cat named Remmy. The kids have been wanting a cat for a long time now but we have been moving a lot and unable to have pets due to apartment policies and such. We have decided to settle at least for the winter and possibly longer and the landlord mentioned we could get a cat if we wanted to.
I am hoping when the newness of the kitten wears off the kids will quit fighting over the kitty. The original plan was to get 2 kittens but we could not afford them from the…

So we are in the middle of rehearsals for Wizard of Oz (if you are in the Pittsburgh area come see us! http://www.mckeesportlittletheater.com/ ) and we are finally done fighting with the SD. We are back to our "normal" selves. I haven't gotten to do much other than be with kids and go to practices, so having a break today is very welcomed. The whole family auditioned. DH is the Lion, DS1 is Scarecrow, I am Gultch/Witch, DS2 is the Coroner and DD is lullaby league, poppy and Nikko my head flying…

I just read Alison McKee's Homeschooling Our Children, Unschooling Ourselves. I read it all in one day - today. And I feel so heartened! Yay! I can do this!!!
I don't feel like writing about my doubts, my trials, and my fears right now (I have many).
Let's just say - together, we can do this!

I don't rightly know. I think I would like to lean more in that direction but it is hard to just give up direction and also hard to unlearn all the things I have been taught. I am very much a book learner so its hard for me to think about tossing out the books and letting the kids go. Play is very unstructured for us, but we do have outings often to the zoo, or museums, or the capital, or some other historic place. We work a little in workbooks with the two youngest ones. Last year the older…
