Unschooling families for peace and nonviolence?

Most homeschoolers in my state do so for religious reasons, and maybe I fool myself thinking that my ethical reasons are somehow different from their religious ones. School is a coercive hierarchy filled with violence to the spirit and souls of little folk. I don't want my kids to learn a history that celebrates…

Cold, sunny, routine day

I'm draining the hot tub to clean it, but it is COLD outside, so I'm planning a quick wipe and not maximum sanitation, as this all involves water.

Holly is asleep. Marty is asleep. I hear a clock ticking, a table fountain making noise and me typing. That's nice! I like it. I hear the furnace, softly, too. The house got cold.

Lately I've been working on my unschooling pages, cleaning up links to other places that aren't there anymore. And I'm moving some of the good parts… Continue

Listening to those Voices

Okay, I admit it! Sometimes, I doubt the universe will provide. As I continue to move forward and I do what I love, every once in a while a voice pops into my head that says,

"You are living in a dream world! Life is not a dream and you have to be rational and practical."

Do you know that voice? When you begin walking on your authentic path, this voice is LOUD! There is a real fear of the unknown.

However, as I… Continue

A Full Week with Family, Peace and the Work

This week my family came back from a long trip away. We missed each other so much and I took a break from writing the book for most days.

I am at about 141 pages and 31,000 words.

I am amazed at what writing a book does to your brain. I feel it is so fast paced and fun when I am in the zone. The words are pouring out and it all makes sense. Then after I put away the book and I am no longer in any zone, I feel so uncreative. Zoned OUT! I can barely think now to… Continue

Working with the peace treaty

Last night I was working with the peace treaty with a friend and it was so beautiful!

This is the oldest core belief I have ever discovered with this work.

Her belief began as a 1 year old.

The interesting part was this 1 year old was amazingly smart at protecting herself. The minute we got close to creating the treaty, she began to tell stories of a 6 year old, and then a 12 year old.

I asked, "Can we go back to being one?" I was answered with… Continue

Stan and Dan (who helped my kids get along)

When Kirby and Marty were little, this was very helpful in helping them think about the competitions and jealousies between them and their friends. Because it's silly and funny, but also true, it kinda lit them up with awareness.

Thank you Gordon! Thank you Sesame Street!

Jim Henson and Frank Oz, you will always rock.

I love the… Continue
