Laurence is working on algebra. He said he wasn't quite getting out of this book. On a recent trip to a hpb, half-priced books, I got him some pre-algebra cliff notes. I will have to insert the name of the book that is causing him 'feelings', for lack of a better word yet.
At the time I suggested he place ticky notes on each page in the book that was giving him issues. But then I went and found it, it is Advanced Algebra. It may be a TE, teacher's edition and too 'busy' for him. So I explained…

I'm not even sure if I consider myself experienced enough to touch this topic. The irony is that before I knew about unschooling, I knew about "the Natural Approach." In actuality, this influenced my unschooling decision.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tracy_D._Terrell
Why the sudden interest in the topic? Well, I added a new friend on fb, and in her intro she asks for future collaboration. The idea is a study of 2nd language learning by unschoolers and the application of such a method in a lang…

The count is now 6000 creatures and creations. Wow! I'd never be able to keep adding them to photos. It would be the never ending project!
I believe the Ning accounts and such may not allow that quantity, even if I was able to add.
There are some 'oral stories' coming out of playing Spore. L/T continue to write within the game. And the Spore website has other options. I saw Laurence looking at something called a Spore prototype. It was interesting. MM

I placed Shelby turtle, a box turtle, into an empty toddler pool yesterday. He climbed out!
We found him attempting to get behind the refrigerator. Now I know, a 5in box turtle can
climb out of an 8in pool. I believe I will just let him roam freely in the house. He is great
for 'bug control'.

I dug out a bin yesterday and my recordkeeping isn't all that bad. I've a binder for each year. There are some 'oddballs' that make a clutter. These are spirals from 'Kinder' which don't have 3 holes and do not fit into the binders.
I certainly won't toss this stuff out any time soon. But what I may do is make a note to myself to stick in this binder.
A note to direct any reminiscing or other interests the children may have in looking at them any time.
I also saw some really great pictures. T…

I'm on a search for local writer workshops, an idea I'm currently tinkering with is taken a course. At the moment I prefer something live and in-person, versus on-line. This was the 1st site I visited:
http://writersleague.org/about/index.html
$50. annual membership. Not quite what I had in mind, but since I can't save it on facebook,
my internet can't access at this time I'll save this idea here. I have a terrible habit of rotating
to other ideas. I will cont. my search. mm

Just a quick note to myself and others. I'm feebly trying to tie all of my groups and emails to sort thru this computer. I'm talking about 1 other unschool list, which I wasn't able to.
So I have to settle for forwarding them to myself at my yahoo. Since I have more time on the 'little computer'.
Oh, these loose ends. I also have 5 or 6 local groups, which I'm debating whether or not to put on NO email. It seems the teens groups and activities are oh so quiet. Perhaps all the teens have friends…

Laurence's awod, cross referenced back thru wiktionary.
Oh, that there would be a way to connect our trails. Our electronic trails. I've got 3 computers, two are hooked up to the interent, the really old one is not. That is the 'puter
Laurence is generating words thru Encarta dictionary. In this day we probably call it an 'old program'. But who cares about age? It does the job.
I only have 1 handy method of digging it out, that is to ask a vocabulary…

I thought our 3rd computer, aka the paper weight, was totally useless. Then I asked Laurence what Joseph Chilton Pearce was using the word 'transendence' as, and he said 'that is not the awod, 'fringillid' is the awod. What!
I'd said 'transendence' (sp) was my awod, before his response. So then after he described his word, something or other 'true finches', I had to know. Where did you get this awod? A word of the day.
Apparently the really old computer, the 3rd one, which isn't connected to t…

http://www.preservenet.com/theory/Illich/Deschooling/chap6.html
Illich uses the term over and over, and he wrote this in 1971. His idea of 'learning webs' is futuristic, 'the product' he writes about he doesn't describe. He didn't envision the internet.
He seems to describe deschooling, but I don't believe he defines it. I'll have to read and re-read. He doesn't define it say as wikipedia may.
The downloaded version is a tad disruptive to read, no page markers. I shall return. mm

I'm pretty much stuck being quiet again, sitting here with headphones on listening to pandora, typing on the little 'puter. Law grande is laid up from a tooth ache, hopped on Vicodin, waiting on a root canal hopefully tuesday he will have it taken care of.
What I really wanted to do was sift thru this white shelving. I have books mixed with flour and salt. I want some aesthetics in this particular corner. But it upsets him if I move things around.
Outside there is a bin, in this bin, are old h…

The study of the English language of a subject is probably my 2nd least favorite topic. Just like Math, my 1st least favorite subject, it's not my 'thing'.
My boys write for their purposes, I'm in a futile attempt to document. To record keep.
Basically, at this point I'm at this evaluation. One 'it's all in the game'. Basically, their official type writing, writing that is recorded is in Spore. I believe it's published. Now, my question, is it online too? I'll have to ask them, or watch them.…

It must be a regional dance or a dance from another era. My guess would be Depression era. That is just a guess.
I don't know where I heard the name, but my dad taught it to me. It's a sort of a cumbia. A dance done cheek to cheek, but with the hips stick way away from the other person. It was a family moment, very funny.
I can't find it on the internet, not yet.
I found mapache, so it would translate as the raccoon danze. I haven't searched in English. Why would I search in English 1st? just…

My nickname for my father was Tata. I wonder, it was passed thru family. It may be a shortening of Tahtll - father and padre. Hm, I wonder how many more words we used were Nahuatl?
I grew up 90 miles from the border with Mexico. We have many differences, some are almost lost to history.
I tried locating a youtube dance, it's not available yet. Perhaps someone doesn't know or thought about it. I heard the name of a dance, la danza de los mapache. I'm still searching.
