You can register directly if you're not needing a bunk. There are bunkbeds. :-)
Even if you're not able to go, it might be worth reading there because there will be others. Some are listed on the righthand column of the main Albuquerque symposium page:…
In a month, I'm leaving for India. I'll stay with Hema Bharadwaj's family, in Pune. They visited Albuquerque a year ago and we had "The Monkey Platter Festival" for them because they couldn't make it to the U.S. for a conference. http://monkeyplatterfestival.blogspot.com/…
On CBS Sunday Morning, they're talking about letters from camp of kids begging parents to pick them up because they're not having fun. There's a book (might not be new) called P.S. I Hate It Here!: Kids' Letters from Camp But they're laughing at the kids about asking for help, by mail, which took effort to write, and days to receive. VERY sad. And the article is…Continue
Brief, and I don't love seeing or hearing myself, but I like the background--the window was open and the curtain was moving a little. That's the best part (for me) and that plant behind me is a sea onion, or false sea onion, or something mysterious.
If you want a special version of the finished film, or… Continue
I think it's 32 years. This was sent to me yesterday by Beth Teel, who grew up in my hometown not far from me. She's younger, and her brothers were friends of my younger sister. Beth was one of my students, when she was in 7th grade English and again in 9th. Long ago.
The people in the photo have all changed names at least once since then (even the guys! ) but on the day of this photo we were:
Holly is in the next room and I can see her working happily on her MySpace stuff. We're eating "fancy oatmeal," she said--slow-cooked "real" oatmeal, with raisins and butter and brown sugar. She put half&half on hers and asked me about the relationship between half&half and cream, so I looked up the definitions of light cream, whipping cream and heavy whipping cream. Half & Half is about like light cream.
She was writing about Casa Bonita (or using it as the response on a… Continue
I'm draining the hot tub to clean it, but it is COLD outside, so I'm planning a quick wipe and not maximum sanitation, as this all involves water.
Holly is asleep. Marty is asleep. I hear a clock ticking, a table fountain making noise and me typing. That's nice! I like it. I hear the furnace, softly, too. The house got cold.
Lately I've been working on my unschooling pages, cleaning up links to other places that aren't there anymore. And I'm moving some of the good parts… Continue

I'm really excited to have finished putting all my decent pages into a magic-like portal at http://sandradodd.com/random
It took me most of two days to finish, and I'm really thrilled with it.
I printed out all the unschooling pages from the editing area of my site, and worked at putting in anything that was useful without being too weird a place to enter (though some might be a bit rough or shocking for absolutely new… Continue
Holly sent this to me. I didn't even know it had been taken. Kirby took it, and must have stood on a chair.
That's Holly with the red in her hair. Then Rosie and Roxana Sorooshian, me, Bo King (who did the tree art I use on my unschooling pages), Marty, and his girlfriend Ashlee. Pam and Kirby were in the other room.
This was the second week of January, this year, at my house.
