I was just wading through some posts from my other blog and saw an old post that I like. I thought this would be a good place to share.
To some, this may seem like a bunch of toys thrown haphazardly around the room. I admit, sometimes it takes a lot of internal fortitude to just go with it!
Thankfully, I have learned to look closer:
Do you see it yet?
What looks like chaos at first glance is actually an intricate, precise, and highly organized battle zone. One that I had the pleasure to observe unfold.
Declan is an action figure junkie. It amazes me what this child can do with an action figure. The world as we know it ceases to exist for Declan when the games begin. Right now it is all about Ben 10. Slowly, but surely, the collection of figures has grown to be almost complete. When he acquires a new one, it opens up hours of new play. The depth of planning and thought that goes in to each adventure is amazing.
Before Ben 10, it was Godzilla monsters. Before that Robots. Before that it was superheros. Sometimes the battles involve them all. No matter who is involved, it never gets old. Each adventure can last hours. Sometimes he invites us to play, sometimes not. No matter how it plays out, Declan is clearly in his element.
So, the next time I see a huge, horrible mess in my house, I will stop to take a closer look. Who knows what I may actually be walking in on!
