Homeschooled Voices: Listening to Teens

I'm writing a book!  I want to be able to let parents hear from homeschooled or unschooled teens themselves. Lots of parents really question whether it's the right choice for their teen. So I'm looking for teens and young adults who spent their teenage years homeschooling or unschooling. Some might have tried school briefly, while others never bothered.  But now it's time to come to the REAL experts - and hear what that was like

As a homeschooling mom, I sat at many a park day listening to the teenagers quell the other parents' fears about their kid getting into college, meeting other teens, having a full, rich life.  More and more conferences spring up with panels of teens sharing their experiences. Still, many more parents, teens and younger kids will never get the chance to hear directly from the homeschooled teens. Until now!

This book is going to be a simple collection of comments from teens. Readers will be able to read what YOU have to say on various aspects of homeschooling.  Because everyone's experience has been different, you'll be able to show how creating an individualized approach to learning has worked for youl!

We're trying to find as many homeschooled teens as we can, so feel free to share the link!  You don't have to have composed an opera by 19, sailed around the world, or have started a popular rock band. We want to hear from teens who are busy living their lives - it just happened that they were homeschooled during their teenage years.

Oh I hope they'll respond! I'd love to hear what they have to say. It's been a lot harder to get teens/young adults to get back to me on this. I'm hoping to hear from more of them while they're on holiday break, so I'm extending the deadline into January. I have about 25 people who have responded, but I think it would be so cool to have twice that number of respondents showing how happy they are with how they learned!

So, if you have any teens/young adults that you could help spread the word to, I'd love it! Thanks, Ren!!!

Glad to see this! Sounds like a great project Sue. If there is still time, I'll ask my older boys to check it out and maybe respond if they're so inclined. :)
