Oi, this is a hobby of mine I'm reluctant to be a part of. Ever since we got into computers, I really put off any computer chores. Unlike the boys, who have no qualms about this, I don't especially dig maintenance. I will do it, but it may take me hours to figure out an issue. However, they can and do describe 'how to do a thing'.

Yesterday, I was conversing, with anyone who would listen, 'why is using a cheat code bad?' and do they think that my simis disappeared from the game since I used motherlode, the cheat code in excess?' Laurence was most definite. He stated 'basically the cheat code takes advantage of a bug in the program'. But he wasn't sure if he should call it a 'bug'.

These meaningful and pertinant 'problems' of maintaing the computer or knowing 'how it works' seem to illustrate our dialogues. It's very typical now, I 'get in over my head' or I get stuck and Laurence offers a solution. Easy, 'don't use cheat codes', make the simis work for their sim dollars.

They have knowledge about the inner workings that I have to search and look up. I have to use outside sources or support. Like I said, I love playing the video games and blogging, but I really could care less about the 'dirty chores'. It's almost a necesity though, to go on learning this.

I'm procrastinating on one right now. Trying to figure out if this little old laptop can or should be upgraded visavis a new video card. I may end up with another paperweight, or it's beyond it's scope. It may be time to ask Laurence another question, how do we find out if this old laptop can even run any of their cool games?' One way to avoid a fovea is to ask questions. If we can answer them ourselves, we are one step away from solving the issue. Which is more of a non-issue, but a hobby.
