Radical Unschoolers Network

the network for radical unschooling families

In a month, I'm leaving for India. I'll stay with Hema Bharadwaj's family, in Pune. They visited Albuquerque a year ago and we had "The Monkey Platter Festival" for them because they couldn't make it to the U.S. for a conference. http://monkeyplatterfestival.blogspot.com/

I'll also get to see Urmila Samson, whose family was across the hall from us at the Good Vibrations conference the month before that.

I'm really excited about the whole thing. I've had dreams about it. I started packing three weeks ago. I'll keep a separate blog for it here, so the photos and notes will all be in one place:

A couple of gatherings are planned, and I get to be in Bangalore for Diwali, but mostly I'm interested in the little details of everyday life--just BEing there. My wishlist is short.

movie theatre

grocery store

monkey

puppet show

dancers

Christmas shop / wrapping paper

I would like to taste Jambul, if it's the right time of year when I'm there.

I'd like to taste peda.

At one point I had planned to be there for Christmas, and one of the families is Christian, so I had looked at pictures of Christmas in India, and of course it's different. I'm not sure I'll get to see any Christmas stuff in November, but I might!
