Hi, Kim,

All I know about VEVO is that their videos always begin with a commercial and they're very slow to load compared to other YouTube offerings. I hate commercials and slow load times so I try to avoid VEVO offerings.

I sometimes get depressed about current society then I remember what is was like during Jim Crow and I gotta agree that it's much better nowadays. Not perfect, certainly, but a whole lot better.

Hi, Kim,

Is it as grey and wet in Surrey as it is here in the Seattle area?

The link I posted is the 12-in. remix and yours is the original album version but it's from VEVO and I really dislike them. I do like that version and that video, however, once you get past the VEVO overhead. I remember those moveable WHITE/COLORED signs on the busses in New Orleans and I know Art, Aaron, Charles, and Cyril (who's my age) Neville do, too. Among all the other offenses of the Jim Crow universe.

Robin,

Y'all should add Passing Glory to your Netflix queue. It's about a basketball game between St. Augustine (Black school) and Jesuit (White school) in New Orleans in 1965, a game which had to be secret to avoid any potential "problems." I was at Jesuit at the time. The movie is somewhat fictionalized from the actual event(s) but it has a pretty good flavor of those times. Good writeup about it here: http://www.black-collegian.com/extracurricular/sports/passglory1199...

Next time we see y'all remind me to show Senna the scar I have from a police dog bite I got during Civil Rights activities.

Funkadelic Neville Brothers, Frank!

Senna was incredulous when I explained the norms of the time when Rosa Parks refused to give up her seat on the bus. She had a hard time imagining not being able to sit with one of her friends on a bus, or having to use separate water fountains, or sitting at segregated lunch counters.

Thank you, Sister Rosa, indeed.
