Radical Unschoolers Network

the network for radical unschooling families

From my recent Blogger post

My online Monday time was in the evening, giving me horrible eye pain. I cannot go on with little light, though I can't or don't want to go earlier. Just had to mention that.

This is being typed on the public library computer, which sucks because it's always popping up windows about encrypted information. Ugh! Guess it's best to use my grandparents' computer for hours (I really, really like the Internet and go out of hand with usage and time).

This week was interesting. I took the bus to meet homeschoolers/unschoolers in two parks. Wednesday was a failure. I cannot go earlier because I'm stuck with work and lunch until 2:15. I also don't drive, so public transit is the option. Some bus routes are decent, but the bus going to Pinecrest Gardens and its public library takes forty-five minutes to an hour to get to the bus stop. I got there at four something; no unschooler present. It was okay. I'm used to being alone anyway. I just gotta find another way to get there. It's hard with work and a bus-only transportation. Can having a bike make things easier, help me go more at my pace?

At least Thrusday was better. It was great to meet again with local homeschoolers. I met some of these kids/moms in April, and haven't gone there until now. Some explained how the Wedneday meet-up was from 2:00-4:00. Odd! No offense, but I thought unschoolers weren't that rigid with schedule.

I think I understand them; there's so much to do, and the Pinecrest park and library can be quite underwhelming.

These days encouraged me to plan blog posts on advice for leaving school and how not driving is sometimes better. Until then, bear with my stubborn relationship with online access.
