Hi Jody! :0) How are you????? I finally figured out how to put photo's on my page! :0) i am so not computer savvy! :0) ...and I know that was NOt proper english! :0)
Hi Jody. No we are not going, but we are meeting in Lancaster next week if you want to join us ask Lorrie for the details privately. I don't know how to send a private mesage to you! :0)
Hi Jody! I am going to re-submit some more things this week to our school district. I feel pretty confident now with more study on RFPA. I'll keep you posted! How have you been? How is your winter going?
Sorry I never got back to you! Crazy holidays. ^^"
I'll have to look your daughter up and friend request her. =) Do your sons watching Naruto on Cartoon network, or do they watch the subtitled episodes? I generally stick to subtitled anime. ^^
Hi Jody!...Well, If your 8 year old is already registered you may have to do the standardized testing. They can't "DO" anything if he doesn't test well, perhaps...on a positive note if it only helps you to see strengths and weaknesses, it may be an Ok thing. They all catch up eventually anyway. Academics sometimes isn't their gift and some children just do not "test" well. It is so frustrating that they can do this standardized test thing anyway, like everyone should fit into the same mold. Your child may surprise you though, because one of our older daughters had some learning issues. She ended up testing in the 3rd,5th & and 8th grade testing higher than 97 percent of the kids in the nation! I was shocked! We did a few vaccines with the older ones due to my ignorance and the one with the learning issues had that high-pitched screaming after her vaccines :0( I often wonder if that is why she struggled so academically. My last 2 Thank GOD are completely unnvaccinated! We are into whole foods, unprocessed foods, organic etc.....but I wouldn't say we eat everything raw, although I know it is better for you. We steam veggies with a little sea salt ,garlic, and olive oil. I just hope your child does not get anxious over the testing if that is the route you go. I think I am going to use that Bill. I talked it over with my husband and he is in agreement with me. I hope the administrator where your child goes to be tested is kind and patient. It always was a concern for my older ones to get a harsh administrator, it made them so nervous. My daughter did get "special accomadations" by the Pa. State Board of Cosmetolgy to pass her Aestheticians License. She needed a "reader" for the theory part of the exam. She did very well on the practical portion with special help. The funny thing is.....she did NOT like reading at all growing up, then in High School I had asked her if she wanted to read the Great iIlustrated Clasiscs(3rd grade level). Her evaluator, who was VERY relaxed said they would be OK for the "Classic" requirement by a Diploma program we were working with at the time. Well she started to LOVE to read and has been an avid reader ever since. :0) See..... High school was her time to learn to read. Or at least learn to read well enough to actually enjoy it:0)They all learn so differently and at different times. I hope these thought are helpful. Isn't it great since we raised children that are grown now, and they Survived :0).....we can be so much more relaxed with our younger ones.-BetteAnne
Great! Let me know if you ever go to see him in Lancaster, because our Married daughter, Carmella lives 15 minutes East of Lancaster in Parkesburg. She is 45 minutes from me. Lancaster takes me just a little over 1 hour. That is so funny we live at completely opposite ends of Pa. Sorry my spelling was erred in the previous letter. My dear husband bought home Pizza for dinner just as I was sitting down to write you, so I hurried! :0) Lancaster is a lovely area. Jody , I am thinking of using the, "Religious Freedom Bill" that passed in 2002... Pa. S.B. 1421. Do you know of anyone who has used it. My precious daughter, Domenica turns 8 in April and you know in Pa. what that means. I just can't stand having to journal and log and go to the state evaluator and all the standardized tests again. We did all that with our 3 oldest, and when unschooling... it becomes most difficult to journal and log all the wonderful things they do and learn all day. With this Bill we could say they are infringing on our GOD given Right to educate our children the way we have been led by GOD. And to report to them (our School District) would go against our beliefs. I know some in Pa. who unschool underground, I'm not sure what I'm going to do. Did you know in States like New Jersey and Texas you do not even have to let anyone know your Unschooling/Homeschooling. It makes me want to move sometimes, however, my husband has a Plumbing/Heating/ Air Conditioning Business in Philadelphia for over 32 years now and he says he can't start over now. I really was dreading the 8 year old compulsory thing, and it came so fast! :0( Well I think it is so amazing to meet someone who has children all different ages like me. :0) The little ones adore the big ones and vice versa. Thanks for responding so quickly! :0)
Hi Jody! :0) We have similiar sitjuation with our love of children we have 5 on earth and one little soul in Heaven. I also love natural birth....also our children range in ages of 25 down to 6 years old. We also are in Pa. Southeast, Pa. How far do you live from there? Perhaps our youngest can play at a mutual meeeting place and we can coverse about unschooling. We have been Homeschoolers/Unschoolers for about 17 years.-BetteAnne:0)
well......I only joined recently. I used to just check out the site becuase we are pretty much done with trying to meet other unschoolers since that has never worked out around here. It looks like you may have more in your area then we do.
Great to "meet" you here! We love to do crafty things and my husband is also an artist, so maybe it does run in the family. Thanks for sending the nice note! Blue Man Group is soooo cool! :)
Thanks for asking! It went well with two families totaling 5 children and three adults coming and hanging out with us. I want to do it again and I am planning on having a sledding & hot coco party soon...if snow cooperates between Thanksgiving & Christmas or just after the New Year. I will be posting on here and on the Yahoo list when I get things planned.
Hey! I'm new on here, but read your info about you. It seems we have lots in common. I apprenticed as a homebirth midwife and was a doula & CBE. I had my youngest 2 babies at home. I love the idea of being a raw foodest, but not quiet 100%. I also am a Mormon, but just recently in the past 2 yrs have decided that was not for me. Anyway I just wanted to say hey! PEACE! Bryce
LOL. I love blue man group, too. We have a DVD of them in concert - what a show! And for goodness sake, you are VERY interesting! (Especially because you think I'm interesting. BIG GRINS.
Hey Jody. It's great to get to know you. Later today I'm gonna go through all your links one by one. What fun! I get to surreptitiously spy on you with your permission. XD
