Thank you for the comment on my blog. You really, really pointed out a few things I should have mentioned. You also helped me emphasize on my irrational aspects--kind of "brought me to my senses." But I guess I'm quite the product of the "mainstream teens" you mentioned. I know, unfortunately. Hey, who says I'm not working on it?
Really, thanks. A worthwhile discussion. I have a hard time dealing with people seemingly angry at when I said, but this one had my interests. I (and the ones commenting) seemed more human talking online, saying whatever is on the mind and not getting a "nod, nod, mhm-hmm" response.
Teresa, Jill Parmer asked me that in last Monday's chat, and I wrote sometihng and saved it. I'll look for that and patch it up and post it on the page with the sound file. I'll leave a note here when I do (probably post it here too, in the forum, so people can comment).
Sandra, I just listened to your piece on the Sandi Schwartz show, and you mentioned the parallels between the women's movement and the homeschooling movement. This is intriguing, and I'd love to know more. Would you be willing to share your thoughts?

Thanks for adding me to your friends list. Your site has been a great source of inspiration to me & my daughters. :)
I am soooo not a celebrity kind of person, but... wow. I am new to this site, but the impact your personal website has had on me and my family is amazing <3 Thank you <3 I am excited to find another one of your outlets, so I can read even more of your stuff :)
I went to your site and so far have read your thoughts on bribery, boredom, checklists, choices, definitions and fighting. It all looks really good to me. This is exactly what I thought radical unschooling was.
Happy Birthday, Sandra...hope you are having a great trip in England. Yesterday, we had a Learn Nothing Day "observed" pool party with a group of friends.
I should have... Chamille loved the movie and I know we have seen more than twice, we even had a Pocohantas mug, wash cloth and a few other of the Disney consumables. I will watch it again with Margaux to see what else I have missed.
"What I love most about rivers is
You can't step in the same river twice..."
I did not know that those were lyrics, I first discovered the concept while learning about Taoism. It does not surprise me though that a strong female hero like Pocahonatas would be singing about that in relation to the way people have a difficult time accepting each other. The people I have met that get un-schooling do flow like a river and it is one of the safest and friendliest swimming holes I have ever found, the bonus is that there is room enough for everyone!
Thanks, Sandra for the update. I have a scheduling conflict and won't be able to make it. I really wanted to see you all, but I'll have to wait a few more months. Have fun- I know how excited you are about it all.
I must have viewed the 2008 schedule when I signed up!!
keep me posted to any and all unschooling happenings...like I said I am in need of any and all advice from the folks I admire.
Thanks for letting me know about the changes. We have signed up and registered to come so we plan on being there! I am disappointed that John Gatto is off the schedule...it would have been great to hear him too. We have never attended a conference before so I am soooo looking forward to coming and growing. Keep me posted about any happenings on Sunday...I am sure we will love to come. My mom lives in the area so we will be staying with her in Gilbert. Thanks again!
