Probably we will come down for a parkday or something when the weather gets better. We have SD zoo and Wild Animal Park passes and I want to use them more. I will post when we decide to go...the banner is easy, pick a box on your page that accepts html code, then copy and paste into the box and save. Let me know if that doesn't work.

Flo, you marked "maybe" on the HENA/Arizona-in-March conference, so I wanted to let you know that it's been changed to a Saturday only, one-day conference. They had scheduling problems with the university. Pam Sorooshian and I are talking about a Sunday morning get-together, though, for those who want to have more time with our kids.

OK I missed the part about Watkins Glen in your last message - doh! We used to tour the wineries a lot around Seneca and Keuka lakes when I was in school. Actually the weather we're having in ID right now makes me miss upstate NY. We went to a wedding in NYC a couple years back but I have yet to take Linda and Andrew upstate or to New England (I was for 4 yrs before moving to Ithaca).

Coincidentally a work friend just asked me today when the last time I was in Ithaca and it was late 1993....seems like way too long. I'd never been west of the Mississippi til 1989 and since 1993 I've only lived west (first AZ then TX and for the past decade ID).

I don't blame you and Marc for fleeing; I grew up in Toledo OH and had had enough of the rust belt and the static-ness of that part of the world. It's nice and I try to visit annually (right before L&L I was there) as I have most of my family in OH. But honestly....I have no desire to move back.

I do miss watching my 3yr old neice grow up however. She is quite the princess and I think she poofed me into a frog as I was leaving Columbus OH.

OK am signing off....hope Linda will get in touch & you all can chat & plan for GV. Linda is excited to see Beth Fuller again, she has had a very positive impact on our relationship (in ways I'm only dimly aware of 8^% )

Take care -
SWR

Yup, I went to grad school at Cornell from 1987 to 1993. Absolutely beautiful part of the world. I did go stir crazy due to isolation every couple of months and had to escape to somewhere, er, more populated. But I loved hiking in spring and fall, swimming the gorges in the summer, and as you might guess, skiing in the winter. Please remind me - you and Marc are from that way too, right? (Rochester?)

Our main computer is down which is why Linda has not replied to your email. She would appreciate it if you could send the link to your newsletter (she'll look at the GV website to see if she can find it)

Say hey to Marc and the girls and look forward to hearing more from you.

Regards - Steve & Linda

PS Yes tramp camp is Andrew's preseason ski team practice; they do lots of jumping plus karate, some soccer and ultimate, hiking, etc. But mostly jumping.

Hi Flo - well I had a good trip in SD but caught a cold while there that I'm still shaking off. In the meantime Andrew is busy at trampoline class (aka "tramp camp") with his ski team. No snow yet but the forecast finally is calling for some sub-freezing nights. I see from the blogs that your friend there (forget her name but met her at LiG) had her baby - so please pass congrats on from the Idaho contingent !

Tell Marc we're supposed to have good snow here this winter. And please don't hesitate to email Linda about hooking her up for GV help.

Cheers - Steve

Hi Flo! I am so sorry we didn't get a chance to connect better at L&L. It's all so crazy isn't it? Glad you made it to the Tea with Ren thing though...I really loved all the topics brought up there. It was awesome for me to hear all the stories.

The only way I'm making it to conferences right now is as a speaker, so I can afford to get there!:) I'll be at Life is Good in May though. Sounds like the San Diego thing will be fabulous!

Ha-that mama's growl freaked me out. I wish I could have seen my own reaction, it sure felt funny. I'm still trying to finish uploading my pics from Live & learn... maybe when I'm all done, I can link them to here, as well as send to the yahoo group. I haven't had time to mess around with this mypage, though, so don't know how to make fancy photo-spreads.

Yea! I saw that you signed up!

I hear you on the cellular thing. I am that way for the sun, as I come from CA!

I love it here, though. We have been here for 11 years.

have a beautiful fall day,
Rain

Thanks, Flo. The trip home was... ...memorable. Our tour of the Vanderbilt Castle, gardens & winery was really neat, Natalie was way more interested than I expected. The drive back to our flight in Nashville wasn't the best part of the trip, but sure added to our memories.

Hi Flo,

Yes - I met Marc toward the end of the conference but it was very brief and non-personal (or I was so tired by then that I've forgotten it entirely). That's great that we have some things in common. Linda had told me after last year's L&L that there were a handful of engineer dad types and that I might click with some of them.

Linda would love to talk about Peaceful Partnerships stuff; she is lukewarm about these public groups and might feel more comfortable about a direct email (lspswr@cableone.net).

We sure do hope and expect to be in San Diego for GV next September; I think Linda is going to help Ginger with some conference volunteering if I understood correctly. We've enjoyed making SD connections at both L&L and earlier at LiG, and it really helps that Andrew became friends with Kai, Kade and Cameron at LiG.

Ironically I am right now _in_ San Diego on business this week (I have a conference all week then fly out on Friday - and no real time to socialize either, aside from a few messages). And I'm missing my kid of course - he spent the day at ski team "dryland" practice which sounds like it consisted of trampolining and ultimate frisbee.

Anyhow - do you and the girls ski? If you are ever in Boise or thereabouts, we can show you the local mountains. Linda does NOT ski but has been known to watch us on occasion, and is a solid supporter. And of course feel free to crash with us (standard disclaimers about pet fur, futons, etc. apply).

Tell Marc "hey" from me and he can send some good snow vibes our way in a few months.

Best regards,
Steve
