Ack - I'm sorry I'm slow to reply. I missed this note.
We haven't been to folklore village yet, but I keep seeing interesting looking events. Hope to go some time. We'd love to wander at Gov. Dodge some time - perhaps when it gets a bit cooler again? :)
Yep, I am a member of HOME. I edit the newsletter for HOME a few times a year, and go to some park days. Haven't been really active yet since G's asthma issues means no inside crowds in the winter so we can't always go to the chats if it is a big group. But we have met some really nice people there and we will prob. be more active as he gets older and he can moderate who he is by, notice sick people and stay away, etc. ;) There will be a HOME park day on July 30 - if you are in HOME you should get the email notice in the next few days. We plan to go if my back (hurt my back recently) is good enough to go!
Too funny. I went to that resort a bit in high school when we moved to St. Charles from MO (I graduated from St. Charles HS). My mom taught classes there a few times too. ;)
Oh - open gyms. My 5 year old has pretty bad asthma, so in the winter we have to stay away from any places with lots of kids, crowds, or potential cold/flu bugs. He ends up in the ER, blue & not breathing every time he even catches a cold. Poor guy. :( So, our winters are spent away from open gyms.
But...
Next Tuesday we have to be in Mt. Horeb at 11 to meet a friend to pick something up, and usually head over the a cafe right in town for lunch when we are over that way. They have a huge upstairs and nobody is ever up there but us when we go. We'd love to meet you there. We live on the farrrrr east side, so Mt. Horeb is about 35-40 minutes west of us - but probably isn't too long of a drive from where you are?
You can email me off list and we can setup time/location/week for that if you want. We also have been wanting to try that indoor waterpark in Barneveld one Tuesday. Haven't been - have you? Are there any spots out that way that rent snowshoes? We've been wanting to try that out, although that might not last long. ;) Ha!
We love going to the State Parks and Gov. Dodge has that great waterfall...and nice beach. :) We'd love to get together some time...sounds like we have a lot in common too. Holistic family, sewing, knitting, growing food, eating local, etc. And we dream of life on the road, some day. A homestead/farmstead sounds pretty inviting too. Maybe both some day.
I am thinking about going to the conference...I have just been waiting to be sure my husband won't be working or out of town that weekend so he can be with the boys, as that is a no-child kind of conference. I went 2 years ago and met a few people I had known only through blogging, so that was nice! Have you ever been to the conference in Illinois - March, I think? It is whole family oriented and we may go this year. They do have several unschooling oriented seminars. They had Ren Allen as a speaker last year!
Nice to hear from you. My email is scorch_dc@yahoo.com...we'd love to get together some time!

So which town did you live in? Geneva?
